Experience the joy of having a rain barrel and collecting your own rain water.

 Benefits of rain water collecting.

  • Rain water improves the condition of your garden, yard or house plants.
  • No chlorine or calcium carbonate.
  • Cuts down on your city water consumption.
  • Reduces the amount of stormwater runoff flowing to an area.
  • Rain water collecting generates water for productive use which otherwise would have been wasted.

My rain barrels are made from recycled 55-gallon plastic barrels. They are constructed with two faucets, one at the bottom and one at the top with the top faucet acting as an overflow valve that a garden hose can be connected to, to direct the water to another area away from the rain barrel such as a garden area.

To collect rain into a rain barrel the barrel should be situated under the down spout leading from the gutters installed around your roof and directed into the opening on the top of the rain barrel.

In order for the rain barrell to work properly and the water to flow out of it, it has to be elevated. The easiest way to do that is to sit it on four cinder blocks that are standing on end. See picture.

Cleaning: Periodic cleaning is common for rain barrels which requires emptying them and washing them with an environmentally-friendly cleaning solution of your choice.  Once a year is probably enough but you can check the water by taking out the container on the top and checking to see if algae is growing on the inside of the barrel.

My rain barrels are for local delivery and pick up only. See my ordering information along with prices on my Order page.

The two websites below are for devices that can be ordered on line for diverting the rain water from your gutter into your rain barrel.
